Confession brings Possession

There are many scriptures in the Bible that address the tongue. We read where God spoke the universe into existence. When we have the Holy Spirit in us, we have great creative power. However, this also means we can create good or we can, sometimes without meaning to, create negative things. Mark 11:23 (NIV) “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.” We have many different types of mountains thatwe wish to speak to and have removed. It could be a mountain of debt, sickness, toxic relationships, or something else entirely.

I have even spoken in anger against a certain situation and had what I said in judgment occur shortly thereafter. We must use our tongue with caution. It can be used to bless, and it can also be used to curse. Unfortunately, sometimes we curse our own selves by not paying attention to what we are saying/prophesying into our lives. I should never say things in an absolute way. For instance, we should never say things such as, “I am always broke,” “I can never find a job,” “People are always taking advantage of me,” or “I can never lose weight.” We may also be guilty of speaking such things over our children: “You are always so difficult,” “You can never do what I tell you to do,” or “You are just like your father,” or “You are just like your mother.” That last one can be a compliment or an insult; it is usually meant as an insult 😊

I usually start my day with positive affirmations. I have found that my life has taken a turn for the better since I got into this habit. I also speak positively into the lives of my children. We are taught how to succeed in the world when we are born. We go to school for many years to learn the world system and how to function in it. Once we are born-again, we become a new creation. We start out as babies in the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God operates on certain principles. We need to know what these principles are so we can be successful at living the abundant life Jesus promised us. The Kingdom operates by faith. It Is the currency of the Kingdom. This faith comes by hearing the word of God as outlined in the Bible. We are told to study the Word/Bible so that we can be good workmen and not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15 KJV).

Just as we would not expect a baby to navigate the world without knowledge and wisdom, we cannot expect to navigate the Kingdom of God without knowledge and wisdom. For when we are first born-again, we are spiritual babies. The bottom line is: Learn the Kingdom principles, seek to grow in knowledge and wisdom, and remember that the tongue is the rudder that steers your ship as you travel through the new life Jesus has given you.
