Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
We should not love things more than we love God. Anything we love more than God becomes an idol. If we want to be rich and to have God bless us greatly with material things, we must have our priorities straight. If we do not, then that mansion, that luxury car will become a stumbling block and not a blessing. God will not give us things that will derail us spiritually.
Don’t allow possessions to make you proud. One way to tell if you are proud is if you refuse to tint the windows of your new pricey car because you want to make sure that people can see you in it 😊When you invite people over to your mansion, not to really entertain them, but so they can see how you are living large. It is ok to show off your blessings, if your heart’s intent is to glorify God by doing so.
Sometimes we may be unaware of our own shortcomings. There is a prayer we can say that will allow God to fix our hearts. Psalm 139:23-24 “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: 24 And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”.
When it comes to blessing us with material things God knows what is best. He knows the best value; He knows the best time; He knows the best location. He even knows the best person for us to marry: Billy Graham shared the story of how he was in love and the Lord told him it was the wrong person. The Lord then showed him who he should in fact marry. God knew that he needed someone who would support him in his ministry and be strong enough to run a household as he traveled. He stated, “it was puppy love but it was real to the puppy.” 😊
It has also been my experience that God takes into account our personal preferences, when He blesses us. He has also promised to give us the desires of our hearts. He wants us to enjoy the things that He gives us. When God is ready to bless us with riches, He may require us to step out in faith. Often this means taking a first step and not knowing what the second will be. This is how we walk by faith and not by sight. The financial blessings He gives us, are not just for us, but to be used, as the Holy Spirit leads, to bless others.
If God has given you a personal promise of riches, know that He will fulfill His promise at the appointed time. In the meantime, there is faith and hope. Promises give us hope. No matter what we are going through, we have that yet unfulfilled promise to let us know that things are going to get much better.
God is not a man that He should lie…All His promises are yeah and amen.
