John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Today, it is more important than ever for us to be able to identify the truth. There are so many conspiracy theories. Some are so ridiculous as to not be believable others are not as readily recognized as fraudulent.
The most important truth for us to know, is God’s plan of salvation. So many religions teach that it is possible for man to earn his way into heaven. Any religion that teaches that we can be saved by some means other than grace is false. The bible tells us that our righteousness is as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). The only man who lived on this earth without sinning is Jesus. Until we come to recognize that He is the way the truth and the life, we remain unforgiven and in sin.
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to us so we would have a comforter and someone who can lead us into all truth. John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;” If we lean on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will not be fooled by the lies.
I was listening to a well known minister on tv the other day. He said that satan’s fall took place in the Garden of Eden. That statement did not ring true to me. Then the Holy Spirit brought a scripture to mind that contradicted this: Luke 10:18 “And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.” That statement was made by Jesus. It is important to compare scripture with scripture. He, the minister, used another scripture as a reference for his statement but left that one out. The Holy Spirit will bring scriptures to mind when we need them for clarification and instructions. It is important that we take the time to read the bible for ourselves. Everyone who has the Holy Spirit is capable of understanding the bible, for He is the teacher.
Have you ever had the experience where someone said something and even though you had no proof, at the time, that it was a lie, “it just didn’t sit well with you”. That is most likely the Holy Spirit telling you not to believe what you heard. I find in these instances, that upon further investigation, a lie can be revealed.
God gave us all that we need to live a life free from deception, when He gave us the Holy Spirit. Let’s make Him the authority on what is true and what is false.
