John 8:32 Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free
John 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
It is extremely important for us to be guided by truth. The internet has become a tool of satan’s to spread lies and disinformation. You have probably found yourself from time-to-time saying…I cannot believe that they believe that. Whatever “that” is.
Jesus has already told us how, we, as Christians, can be guided in the truth. The Holy Spirit within us will sound the alarm if we are believing something that is a lie. It is up to us to pay attention to His alert. If we choose to live a carnal life, a life where the flesh is in control and not the Holy Spirit, we can fall prey to the lies spawned by the devil.
Jesus said not every one that says to me Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 7:21) There is a group of people who are under the banner of Christians who are not born-again. These people are “religious”. They do not have the Holy Spirit and therefore do not walk in the truth. This group can be very vocal and often speak as if they are hearing from and representing God. They are often the bearers of false prophesies; their viewpoint is often the same as the world’s; they are often swift to condemn those who do not believe as they do. 2 Timothy 3:5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
I listened to the President’s address this morning concerning what happened at the Capital on January 6, 2021. I am deliberately not going to use this blog to share politics, except as necessary. Politics, today, can be very divisive. Jesus when He walked the earth did not focus on the politics of the day, except to point out that there is a difference between the things that pertain to God and things that pertain to the government (Matthew 22:21). The president did make one statement that I thought was very profound. He said…The way forward is to recognize the truth and to live by it.
We should have a love of the truth. We should seek it with all our hearts. I do not want to prop up a lie by quoting those who support it. We know, as we read the bible, that lies, and disinformation will continue. The antichrist will be surrounded by lies and mistruths. His exalted position will be caused by the willingness of many to believe his lies. The bible says…if it were possible, he would fool the very elect (Matthew 24:24) If it were possible…in other words, the elect, those chosen by God will not be fooled by the Antichrist. We will see him for who he is a liar and an impostor, because we have the Holy Spirit and the wisdom that God gives, through Him.
We must be defenders of the truth. We must not allow ourselves to be fooled. To be used by satan, who is the father of lies, to fulfill his purposes. As we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, He will guide us into all truth.
