One of the things people talk about today is “fake news”. It is a term that has been made more popular recently. However, is it fake news to say someone said something, if you hear them speaking it from their own mouth? I really hate arguing. I especially hate arguing about politics. The president cannot save us; only Jesus can. We are told to pray for those in authority. We should spend more time praying and less time criticizing. Only God is perfect, so we will not have perfect leaders. Granted, some are more imperfect than others 😊 However, God does hear and answer the prayers of His children.
I may not believe what you believe politically, but the most important thing is that we both believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is the only way to God. God does not want His servants arguing. I have to be willing to be quiet when arguments begin. Sometimes we have to be willing to take a step back and pray. If you voice an opinion to enough people, you will have someone disagree. Realize also that not everyone is of a sound mind. Some people will not respond to logic because they are illogical. Think of Jesus and the Pharisees. He performed so many miracles proving that He was the Son of God. Some of them said, he is performing miracles using the power of satan (Matthew 12:24). They could not deny the miracles, so they denied the source.
It is the power of God that can break the chains that keep people captive. We also need to bring our own thoughts under God’s microscope for correction. We can pray, Psalm 139:23-24, “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” We should always be seeking truth not just confirmation of what we believe. If we come before God with an open mind and heart and ask Him to show us truth, He will do just that.
The bible says, as far as possible, live peacefully with all men. To the best of our ability, we need to live peacefully with each other, especially those who are of the household of faith. There have been times when the Holy Spirit has told me to address something stated that is incorrect. I usually confirm and reconfirm that He wants me to, before I do it. Usually, it involves sharing my take on a subject. I realize that I am setting myself up for a possible disagreement, or argument (which I hate). Once I know it is of the Lord, I have to do it. Many times, a disagreement does ensue. My response may cause a personal attack. However, I bring every response I make to the Holy Spirit for confirmation before I make it. Many times, He will tell me not to state what I am about to. It is easy, in those circumstances, to respond in the flesh when we are being attacked. To say things like…how can you possibly believe that? That is really dumb 😊 It is easy to say things that will only lead to more conflict. The bible says a soft answer turns away wrath (Proverbs 15:1).
