Scripture regarding seasons:
Jeremiah 8:20 “The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved.”
The above scripture reveals a sad situation. We know that there is nothing more important than being saved. Where we spend eternity is more important than anything we manage to accomplish, in the short comparative life span we have here on Earth. The scripture also tells us to pray to the Lord of the Harvest that He will send laborers. Matthew 9:37-38 “Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; 38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
It is harvest time: No one knows the exact day the Lord will return. He has told us signs to look for that will indicate that His return is imminent…wars, rumors of wars, earthquakes, plagues, etc. Another sign is indicated in Luke 21: 25 (NLT) 25 “And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides.” “Roaring seas and strange tides” one of the signs of the Lord’s soon return. The world has been experiencing things that never occurred before regarding hurricanes. This last hurricane, Nicole, occurred unusually late in the hurricane season. Hurricanes typically do not occur this late in the year. Could this be another sign of the end times? There is a section of the Florida coastline that we like to drive. This area was recently severely impacted by hurricane Nicole. Even though it was only a category 1, because it came so soon on the heels of Ian, many beautiful, expensive ocean-front homes were damaged or destroyed.
While God is fully able to protect us from all harm, it is very important for us not to love material things. Sure, we should be appreciative when God blesses us with them, but they should never rise to a more important place in our lives than our relationship with God. (Matthew 6:19)
Now is the time to get ourselves right with God. Jesus’ return could be closer than we think.
