When things in life don’t make sense; when God’s will is in doubt; when challenges come: Scriptures gives us the knowledge of how we should think.

When we were unsaved, we handled life one way; we were often afraid, frustrated, doubtful. Now that we are born-again, we have the ability to face life using the scriptures to guide us. When challenges come the scripture to help keep me at peace may be, “all things work together for good to them that love the Lord...” When I am inclined to be fearful the scripture to help me overcome fear may be, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

When I feel frustrated that things do not seem to be going as I had planned, the scripture that says, “ask and you shall receive”, leads me to pray and to put the situation in God’s hands.

The Holy Spirit, once we familiarize ourselves with these scriptures, will help us to bring them to mind as needed. We should not go back to handling things the way we did before we became a child of God. We must learn the new way to live in the Kingdom. There are times when we may need to rebuke the devil recognizing that he no longer has power over us. When he puts thoughts in our minds that are contrary to God, we can resist his words by remembering the scriptures that negate what he says.

Jesus gave us the example of this when satan tempted Him and he reminded him of what the scriptures said on the matter. Since the Garden of Eden, satan has been twisting God’s words.

When we know the truth of God’s word, that truth will set us free.
