Psalm 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
If you are like me, you do not like afflictions. You do not enjoy trials. I have never gotten up one morning and asked the Lord for afflictions and trials 😊However, they will sometimes show up in our lives. The scripture tells us that God will deliver us out of not some of them, but ALL of them.
Someone once wrote “trials come to make us strong”. That may be the case, but I would like to be strong without them 😊As long as we are a child of God, we will face circumstances that pose a challenge. We no longer think the way the world does. We have a much clearer perspective on things. Having the bible as our source of reference, allows us to be enlightened and to know the difference between what is of God and what is not. This knowledge sometimes puts us in opposition to what the world believes.
We no longer live our lives in our own will but have subjected our will to God. Sometimes in the process of following God’s will, we may encounter opposition and affliction. The most important thing is to please God. It takes courage to stand for God. Most of us are not called to be martyrs as the early disciples were. The backlash we receive is much less than they endured. Jesus said if they hate me, they will hate you (John 15:18). If being popular is what you seek, you will hide your light under a bushel in order to get along with others.
The most popular preachers and teachers today have a much smaller following compared to people like the Kardashians. I would not trade my salvation for all the wealth and fame the world has to offer. We are only here for a short time compared to eternity. This world and the things of this world will surely pass away, only those things that pertain to Christ will last.
So, I say to you today, be encouraged. Anything that comes into your life God is able to not only deliver you from, but is also able to make good come out of it.
