The Reason God Hates It

We are told in the Bible to love our enemies, bless them that curse us, and pray for those who persecute us. The Covenant of Grace that Jesus taught and brought is not based on hate but love. We are no longer to take an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth but rather to turn the other cheek. Jesus wants us to be wise as serpents; meaning that we should be aware of the things of the world. We should be harmless as doves; meaning we trust God to avenge us when we are wronged but do not take matters into our own hands.

Ignorant people try to hurt and abuse God’s people thinking there will be no punishment meted out from God. God’s response in repaying evil perpetuated upon His children may not always be immediately evident, but He is a God who does not lie and He says, “vengeance is mine I will repay”. (Romans 12:19). In fact, when we choose to avenge ourselves, we may be letting our enemies off lightly. Again, it says in the Scriptures “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” (Hebrews 10:31).

There is no one to deliver us if God chooses to punish us. The only thing to do is to beg for His mercy. We must be quick to repent when we become aware of our sins. We know that God chastens those whom He loves. We may not enjoy the chastening, but it will result in us becoming more like Christ. Racism is a tool of the ignorant. By being racist, we ascribe certain characteristics to an entire group of people. We label people whom we have not met, according to our own insecurities and ignorance. Among the groups of people we ascribe these negative characteristics to, there are bound to be born again believers. In the groups described as “less than” there will be some of God’s people.

There will be people who have been given the Holy Spirit and are led by Him. Experience is a key factor in determining a person’s character. God is able to make good come out of all our experiences. What the devil means for evil, He can turn around for our good. Hate in a person’s heart does not lead to inner peace. It aligns that person with satan and not with God. Peace, true peace, is found when we align ourselves with God’s will and purpose for our lives. So, we can feel sorry for those who walk about spouting hatred, especially those who hate people whom they have never met and who have done nothing to harm them.

We must be constantly guarding our hearts from becoming evil. We must learn to walk in love for others, especially those who are a part of God’s kingdom. We must learn to turn things over to God and forgive when necessary. God will reward those who have a heart’s desire to live as Jesus taught us.
