Above is a picture of Tampa Bay on a peaceful day.
We can see on the news and some of us may have even experienced the effects of hurricane Helene. Whether we believe in climate change as a cause, or not, we cannot deny the frequency and intensity of hurricanes. God is fully capable of protecting His people. (Read Psalm 91, it will help you to believe for His protection). When we have an intimate relationship with God, He will tell us what to do during a time of peril.
I recall on one occasion when a hurricane was heading towards Florida; people started heading north to get away from it. I felt that I should head south to Miami. The road heading south was almost void of traffic. I recall seeing one man driving in the same direction. He looked like a figure from the bible. He had a long beard and could have played the part of Moses in a movie 😊When I got to Miami, I remember someone asking me “why did you drive here?”. On the surface it did not make sense.
I spent my time in Miami at my brother’s house. My family is one that loves to laugh. I can still recall my mother laughing the night before she passed away. We spent our time laughing and enjoying ourselves as the hurricane skirted Miami causing no damage to my brother’s house. Several days later when I returned home, I found that there was no power and my roof had a leak. (I was able to get the money to repair the roof from my insurance company).
Going to Miami is not something that anyone I knew would have recommended, yet it turned out to be the best thing that we could have done. When we trust in the Lord and do not lean to our own understanding, He will make our paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Please pray for those who are recovering from the effects of hurricane Helene. My property was not damaged and I thank God for this.
