PEACE IN THE FIRE
God's supernatural peace
We read in the bible the story of Shadrach, Meshach and A-bed-Nego who king Nebuchadnezzar threw into a fiery furnace. The fire was so hot that it killed the men who threw them into the furnace. They were bound before being thrown in. Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished and said to his counselors. “Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?” They said true. Look, the king answered, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God (Daniel 3:24-25)
The king was amazed, and he had also been given a revelation that the fourth man was the Son of God. Sometimes God does not deliver us out of the negative situation immediately, but He comes in with us to protect us in it. When God comes in, because we asked for His help, He gives us His supernatural peace as He protects us.
The situations we are faced with are far less dire than the one Shadrach, Meshach and A-bed-Nego faced. If He could protect them, surely, He can protect you. God did not protect them because they had supernatural faith. We read in the text where they said, even if He does not protect us, we will not worship the Golden Idol. We do not have to possess supernatural faith, we just need to invite God in.
We can pray saying Lord please be with me in this situation. If you do not immediately deliver me from it, I ask that you protect me in it. I trust that you are working this situation for my good, even though I cannot see it now. Give me your supernatural peace and guide me in it. I thank you even now for blessing me in it.
We cannot always understand why things happen the way they do, however, we can always be assured that God has our best interest at heart. His plan is to give us an abundant life.
