Jesus said that the ten commandments are summed up in love. Love for God and love for our fellow man. The opposite of love is hate. The devil represents hate. He came to steal, kill and destroy. When men behave in a way that is so hateful as to boggle the mind, I know that the source of that hatred is satan. (I deliberately use lower cases for satan and devil, it is my way of not showing him respect 😊)
The reports coming out of Israel regarding the atrocities that were committed against its citizens, if only half true, is mind boggling. How could people deliberately kill babies and children? We know that in war there is always what we may call “collateral damage” but to deliberately kill children, is inconceivable to me. Wars are a part of satan’s grand scheme. He is able to kill, steal and destroy on a grand scale. He tells men that he is sending them on a great mission, a worthwhile mission, while all he is sending them to do is his dirty work.
One of the reasons why heaven will be such a peaceful, enjoyable place will be the presence of love. It will have no hate. If we (mankind) could show love towards each other, we could experience a little bit of heaven on earth. The Holy Spirit residing in the Believer allows us to show more love. Often times, the flesh wrestles against the leadings of the Holy Spirit as the flesh is inclined to be selfish. If we cannot celebrate when God blesses someone else, how can we be expected to help them. We don’t have to be jealous when God blesses someone with something we have been praying for. The house they purchased is not the only house available. The car they purchased is not the only car available. If we will look at it from the perspective that if God blessed them, then He is capable of blessing me, it will be something positive in our lives.
People are drawn to love and repelled by hate. If someone shows you love, you will find yourself wanting to spend time with them. If someone shows you hate, you will find yourself wanting to avoid them. As ambassadors of Christ on earth, we should strive to show love to others. People should see a difference in us, so much so, that they wonder why we are the way we are. When asked, we can share that we are the way we are because of Jesus Christ and being born-again.
