Repentance means to be sorry for our sins, and along with asking God for forgiveness, having no intention of continuing in sin. If we plan on holding on to the sins in our lives, we cannot truly repent. We can be forgiven even if we sin in the future due to the weakness of the flesh. However, we cannot fool God, who looks at the heart, that we are truly repenting if in our hearts we plan on holding on to a sinful lifestyle.
Sin also creates negative circumstances for sowing and reaping. Even though we are under grace, if we put our hand in a fire, we will get burned. Likewise, sin comes with consequences. I wish I had been born again earlier in my life. I lacked wisdom and made a lot of foolish mistakes. I was good at sinning. Most of my sins were against my own best interest and came with a price, Today, I am still not perfect, but God knows that my heart’s desire is to be the person that He wants me to be.
When we become born again, there is a season of learning how to walk in the Spirit. As we walk in the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Now that I am older the flesh does not lust after many of the things it once did. I don’t have the energy for many of my former sins 😊I experience much more peace and joy than I did when I was young and unsaved. I run to Jesus with all my problems. One of the good things about Jesus is that He is never too busy to hear our prayers. Can you imagine if when you cried out to God, He told you that He was too busy solving world problems to deal with yours. If He told you to hold on or leave a message for a call back 😊 If you got an auto response saying He was in a meeting with the angels but would get back to you as soon as possible 😊
God is always available to hear the cries of His children. Always ready to help us in a time of need. He loves us more than we can fathom.
