HOPE FOR TODAY
Victory is Ours
Today, I watched YouTube and saw so much bad news. I don’t believe in hiding my head in the sand and not knowing what is going on in the world. The Bible tells us to be sober and vigilant. It is difficult to be vigilant when you do not know what you are up against. I have learned not to overdo it in terms of my negative viewing however, it can cause reactions such as stress, anger, sadness, anger. ( I wrote anger twice as that is the predominant feeling that I experience😊) The Bible tells us to think on things that are pure, true, of good report, if there is virtue or praise, think on these things (Philippians 4:8). So, I try to wash away the negative input with positive things.
I had a friend who did not watch tv and did not let her family watch either. She once had someone mislead her who worked for a company. I told her she should report it to the BBB and she did not know what the BBB was. In speaking with her, I found that she was not up to date on a lot of things that she should have been aware of. If we are to be wise as a serpent, a part of that is knowing what is going on in the world. If you know the supermarkets are going to be closed, you can do a little shopping before they close. Sadly, my friend is no longer alive. I can’t help but wonder, based on how she died, if her lack of knowledge of the evil practices in the world caused her to fall prey to a trap that was set for her. I believe she is with the Lord today and is having a wonderful time. That is the “good report.”
We do not know when Jesus will return. As far as I’m concerned, it could not be soon enough. If you read the Book of Revelation in the Bible, you will see that things are going to get much worse in the world before Jesus rules. The hope of Believers is to be taken out of the world before things get really bad during the reign of the Antichrist. The Bible tells us that at some point it will be so bad that men will seek death, and death will flee from them.
No matter how bad things may seem to get in the world, we know that we have God’s promises in the bible that we can stand on…promises of provision, protection, health, the meeting of all our needs. Therefore, we are not without hope. We must truly walk by faith and not by sight. Remember, every knee will bow and every tongue will have to confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, one day.
