The job of being a mother is not to be taken lightly. A mother can mold her offspring to be a success in the world as well as being an ambassador for Christ. A child can bring joy to a mother’s heart, as they grow and become a person exemplifying great moral and spiritual maturity.
The bible says: Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Sometimes when we see an adult behaving badly, we wonder about how they were trained at home. Did their parents drop the ball when it came to giving them good guidance and discipline? I have heard of parents who take a hands-off approach to parenting. In other words, they feel the child should be able to make their own decisions, at a very early age. A child does not have the wealth of knowledge that we have gained from experience. We have a responsibility to draw on that experience in order to steer them in the right direction.
Disciplining and guiding a child is a form of love. The same way God disciplines us out of love. Revelation 3:19 “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”
Have a blessed and joyful Mother’s Day!
