Well, ready or not, the new year is here. I usually get a feeling for what the new year is going to bring my family. I believe this is going to be a very good year for us.
As I have advanced in age, there are certain changes that my body has been experiencing. I remember when I was younger, watching older folks get up slowly from their chairs. I remember wondering, why do they do that? Now I know 😊Now that I am in my seventies, I do not have the agility that I experienced when I was younger. Thank God I do not have any sickness or disease. However, things do not work as efficiently as they once did. I sometimes have random pains in certain places for no apparent reason 😊
As a result of these changes in my physical ability, I have found myself thinking that I may not be able to keep up with my kids (grown folk) the way that I once did. I stay home a little bit more than I once did.
I have read the bible a lot and as a result, the Holy Spirit, brings to mind certain scriptures when I need them. I have not taken the time, however, to study where the various scriptures are located in the bible; meaning, book, chapter and verse. This information I usually look up, when I need to pinpoint where the particular scripture is. When the Holy Spirit told me “Philippians 4:13” I was unaware of what this verse was about. As I searched for it, I thought…maybe God is about to correct, chasten me, for something I have done wrong. I could feel the nervousness in the pit of my stomach. When I read the verse it said, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. I knew that God was telling me not to worry so much about what I can and cannot do, but to rely on His strength to assist me.
Isn’t God wonderful! He loves us so much that He will take the time to encourage us, when necessary. Now, whenever, I find myself doubting my ability, I say…”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Once I say this, I can feel the confidence surging in me and feel my abilities rise to meet the occasion.
So, this is what I am taking into 2024. My resolution for 2024 is, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. It could be yours too.
