Matthew 6:34 “ Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
I thought about this verse of scripture this morning. So many times, when we run ahead in our minds trying to wrestle with the challenges of tomorrow, we are not suitably equipped to deal with them. This can cause us to lose our peace of mind. We may be inclined to become anxious and concerned.
Yet, when the day comes, God gives us clarity and His peace. Yesterday, I found myself being anxious about some work that is being done in my house. I had two sets of people coming out to do work and I was concerned that one set would get in the way of the other. I woke up this morning with a sense of peace and confidence that everything would work out fine. Sure enough, one set showed up extremely early at about 7:00 am, and would be finished by the time the other set arrived. God already had it planned out.
We also have to train ourselves that when we pray for something, to trust God and leave it in His hands. This will allow us to experience His supernatural peace in the matter. When we run too far ahead in our minds, we often put ourselves in a position where we do not see the resolution of a problem. It could be a bill that is coming due, and we are anxious about how we are going to pay it. Many times, before the due date of the bill, God will bring the money that we need. We could have saved ourselves a lot of anxiety by praying and trusting God to make a way.
Worry is a sign of a lack of faith. Since we walk by faith and not by sight, when we cannot figure something out that is still in the future, we should stand in our faith believing that God will answer our prayers and make a way.
Our heavenly Father is in the way-making business. He may not have to part the red sea to make a way for you, however, He will be sure to supply all that we need according to His riches in glory through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
