Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
How many times do we find ourselves wondering why we are on the path that we are? Sometimes things simply do not make sense to us. This is where faith comes in. We can anchor our thoughts in the revealed will and character of God. We can stand on the promises He has made us such as He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). We can bring to mind all the times He has been faithful in the past, to see us through.
Often, God will only reveal to us the next step on the path. He will not tell us everything that is to come. In those times, we can rest on the scriptures such as “all things work together for good to them that love the Lord.” We can trust in the fact that He loves us and wants us to live an abundant life. Jesus said John 10:10 “…I have come that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” The abundant life is spiritual and natural.
Recently, I started having a really sharp sciatica pain. It was debilitating. I prayed that the pain would stop. It did not. I went online and found a pain management specialist. I had determined that I could not live with the amount of pain I was experiencing. Certainly not a very productive life. I asked the Lord to guide me to the right place. I did not make an appointment, I walked in as an emergency patient. They were very accommodating. I got a treatment for my pain that alleviated the sharpness of it. During the course of getting the treatment, I spoke with the technician. She shared a lot about her life as I did mine. I made a follow-up appointment. Prior to this appointment, I felt that the Lord wanted me to witness to her. It was the perfect scenario for this to take place, she was with me for almost an hour during which I was free to speak with her. I shared my testimony with her. She seemed very receptive to what I was saying. Sharing some of her own unexplained occurrences. I wrote out the sinners prayer for her and told her that was the way to be born-again. Was this the main reason, why I was in such pain? I cannot say for sure, but I do know that something good came out of it. I also left with no apparent pain after the 2nd treatment session.
As we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we will think and act more like God wants us to. He will impart more of His thoughts and ways to us.
