There is much beauty in the world. The mountains, valleys, plains, filled with beauty that cannot be denied. The variety of animals, birds, so unique, so colorful, so intricately made.
The planet was made for and given to man to enjoy and to have dominion over. Everything is well balanced to make it sustainable. It was made for us to enjoy. Made for us by God the Creator. It was made from love and given to us as a demonstration of His love.
Man has, in his fallen state, brought about by Adam's disobedience, done many things to mar the beauty of God's creation. We have made many decisions that impact the earth based on monetary gain and not on what will create the least negative impact on the earth. The bible tells us that creation groans awaiting the adoption of the children of God (Romans 8:11-12). There will one day be a new heaven and earth where the Children of God will live with Jesus. Finally, the earth will be governed in righteousness and there will be peace.
There is a reason why spending time at the beach, walking in nature, enjoying flowers and the presence of animals brings us peace. They were created to be an integral part of our lives. When we spend too much time in our man-made environment, we begin to experience stress. When we put money before God, we do not have the peace that God gives.
We are seeing what the bible tells us will happen in the end times. A time when the earth will seem to be working against us. A time when there will be earthquakes, famines, pestilences (Mark 13:7-8). Earthquakes can also cause tsunamis. The recent fire in Maui and the big island of Hawaii was fueled by a hurricane that was just offshore. It was a perfect storm for disaster. When we read the book of Revelation, we see that things are going to get worse before they get better.
Even in the midst of all that has transpired, we know that God is able. He is able to protect those who are His and to make all things work for our good. Now is the time to draw closer to God. He says His sheep hear His voice. We need to have our ears attuned to His directions. We need to trust Him and have faith enough to do what He tells us to do, even when we do not know why. We cannot lean to our own understanding we must acknowledge Him in all things, and He will direct our paths (Proverbs 3:5-6)
