Psalm 146:3-5 “Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God.”
Some people think, Unless the democrats are in control…unless the republicans are in control …I am here to tell you that as long as God is in control you can be blessed in all areas. Deuteronomy 28:3-5 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. 4 “Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. 5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.” These blessings are not based on who is president.
Many people became rich during a financial downturn in the economy. You can purchase stocks during a recession that will increase significantly in value when the economy gets better. What we need is wisdom and guidance. If our confidence is in man, our faith will waver when the person or persons we have confidence in are not in a position to impact our experience.
We have heard the story of Joseph who God told to store up provisions for the time of famine. Joseph was wise because of the foreknowledge that God gave him. As a result, he was able to not only help his family but the people of his country. My daughter often recalls when God told me to start keeping a little extra groceries. When He told me this, there was no indication of a food shortage, certainly not a toilet paper shortage 😊 to come. Fortunately, my kids have lived with me long enough to know that God does speak to me. So, even when it does not make sense, they go along with what I tell them I have heard from God. It was God who told me to go and purchase a house when I had bad credit and very little money in the bank. It was God who made a way for me to purchase the house that we now live in. If I had to pay rent for a similar house today, I would have to pay about $800 more, per month, than my mortgage. One day, He will help me to pay the house off.
When our faith is in God and not man, we can stand strong in our faith. We know that His promises are yes and amen. There is nothing too hard for the creator and sustainer of the universe to do. What He has done for others, He will do for us. We need only believe and be obedient.
