1Peter 5:10 “And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast.”
I shared before that the damage my property suffered as a result of hurricane Ian was a downed papaya tree; which we have been able to successfully replant. Well, there was also a section of fence that came down. Since my neighbor had put it up, I did not consider it to be my property damage.
I noticed that he would let 2 pit bulls out into his yard without leashing them. Even though they did not walk into my backyard, I determined that I would not let my cat out until the fence was back up. My cat had glanced at them from under the dining table and seemed to agree with my decision 😊, by his reaction. I was sure it would just be a matter of a few days and the fence would be back up.
After 2 weeks, I became concerned that nothing was being done. I prayed about it and the Lord told me to have the fence put back up. My thoughts were…Whaaat! It wasn’t my fence! They’re the ones with the pit bulls! If they had put it up properly in the first place, it would not have fallen down! I prayed again, just to be sure😊. Yes, there was the same response I should have the fence put back up. I said, Lord I know nothing about putting a fence up. He told me to have the person who mows my backyard, who also works on houses, do it. I spoke with him, and not only did he agree to put the fence back up, he also agreed to speak with my neighbors to get permission to do so.
The next day he told me he had spoken with my neighbors, and they said, go ahead. He said he would be out to cut the backyard and put up the portion of fence that day. He did just that. When I asked him how much he was charging me for it, he said, “just pay me whatever you decide. It is your neighbor’s fence”.
I know I did the right thing. I have a sense of peace when I look at the fence. The Lord showed me that I had benefited from a fence I did not pay for; so, paying to put it back up was not unfair. Now my cat is free to roam about and chase lizards again 😊. Please pray for all those who are still recovering from the ravages of hurricane Ian.
