GET READY! GET READY!
Now is the Time!
Revelation 22:12 “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
The things we do in this world unless they pertain to the Kingdom of God are only of temporary effect. The things we do for the Kingdom are everlasting. Jesus has promised to supply all our earthly needs. He tells us that He takes care of the sparrows and we are of much more value than them. Therefore, we can have faith in believing that He will supply our needs. I can share many stories of God’s miraculous provisions in my life. I lived as and continue to live as a single parent. My children have never gone to bed hungry. They have never not had a roof over their heads. I have owned houses worth close to half a million dollars. All my blessings have been orchestrated by God. However, I digress, my message today is “Jesus is coming back soon” and we must be ready.
Today’s headlines can easily cause us to worry and be overly concerned. The price of oil is going up. Well, do you think this caught God by surprise? Do you think He did not see this coming? Do you think this is going to hinder His ability to provide for His children. I once worked as a secretary for the daughter of a wealthy developer. I was responsible for paying her bills. In my ignorance, I was trying to use what was in her bank account to pay her creditors as best I could. When she saw what I was doing she informed me…” All I have to do is inform my father that I need more money and He will deposit money into my account.”
If her earthly father would do that for her, how much more will our loving heavenly father do for us. Philippians 4:6 -7: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Now that we have confidence in our needs being met, we can focus on the work of the Kingdom.
Everyone of us, who are born again, have a testimony. We can share how we passed from death unto life, if we were saved later in life. We can share about the goodness of God. Yes, we have challenges, yes, we sometimes suffer affliction. The scripture tells us that God delivers us out of all our afflictions (Psalm 34:19). As the time grows short, we need to pray for our unsaved loved ones. We must be sensitive to the leadings of the Holy Spirit and be ready to give an account of the hope that is within us. It is time to lay up treasures in heaven so we can reap our eternal rewards. The things of this world will soon pass away.
