In order for us to be saved we have to pray and ask God. The fact that Jesus died for our sins is not a personal experience until we ask Him to forgive us of our sins and come into our lives. That is the first step in having a personal relationship with God.
After we are born again, we must continue to receive all that God has for us by asking in prayer. The bible tells us that “we have not because we ask not.” (James 4:2), Jesus also says, John 16:24 “Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.”
Whenever we find ourselves anxious about things in our lives, we need to bring them to the Lord in prayer. The bible tells us to be anxious for nothing, Philippians 4:6-8 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” God’s ear is attentive to the prayers of His children.
1 John 5:14 “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.” What is His will for us? That we may live an abundant life. A life in which all our needs are met. Knowing that God wants us to flourish and have all of our needs met, gives us the confidence to approach Him in prayer with our needs.
He is our loving heavenly Father. He loves us more than we can even begin to comprehend.
