“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4 6-8 ). There is certainly enough to be anxious about today. If we listen to the news, it seems as if we are headed into dire circumstances. A lot of the news media do not stick to what is occurring but spend a lot of time speculating on what lies ahead. Unfortunately, most of that prognostication is negative. As a result, we not only have to contend with what is happening but also with what people perceive is going to happen.
God’s remedy for anxiety is prayer. I have learned whenever I feel anxious to take the matter to God in prayer. When we go to God in prayer, He will give us His supernatural peace in the matter. I have also noticed that I can spend a lot of time worrying about something with no idea how to solve it, but a solution will come to mind once I take it to the Lord in prayer. God will also orchestrate things so the problem will be resolved. It is very important for our peace of mind to take things to God in prayer. It is the joy of the Lord that helps us to be strong. When our joy is diminished due to anxiety we are no longer operating at our full potential.
The bible tells us to pray for those in authority. The result of the past election has disappointed millions of people. There is no one who has more authority than God. We can read in the bible how God deals with rulers to bring about His will. We may not always know why things happen the way they do, but we do know that God is able to make good come out of every situation. As long as we keep our eyes on Jesus, we are not without hope.
Today, more than ever, we are so blessed to have a relationship with God. To be able to cry out to our Father through the relationship that His dear Son has provided us. We know that our prayers are being heard and if they are being heard we know that they will be answered. We can rest in the knowledge that God loves us and wishes only the best for us. Until that day when we are transported to heaven to spend eternity with God, we have God and the angels fighting our battles here on earth. We have read the end of the book; we know that we have the victory.
